Call for Applications: Director Positions on the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI) Board of Directors

The TATI Board of Directors is seeking new members to join our enthusiastic group of volunteers who actively support TATI’s mission.

Established in 1968, TATI was the first art therapy training program in Canada. We offer a Graduate Level Diploma in Art Therapy (DTATI) in two program formats (Onsite and Distance Learning). Through a curriculum that includes a wide range of topics, we offer training for students to integrate art practices with theories and skills in psychotherapy with individuals, groups, adults, children, youth, older adults, couples, families, and diverse communities.

Board Member Responsibilities

As a member of the TATI Board of Directors, you will be part of a team of leaders committed to contributing to the continuing development and support of the Toronto Art Therapy Institute.

Your responsibilities will be to:
● Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s mission and programs;
● Keep up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization; 
● Prepare for meetings by reading agendas, minutes, reports and other documentation required to actively participate in them;
● Attend meetings regularly;
● Contribute skills and knowledge by participating actively in meetings and committee work;
● Make inquiries when clarification or more information is needed;
● Understand and monitor the organization’s financial affairs;
● Avoid any potential conflicts of interest; 
● Understand and maintain confidentiality;
● Ensure the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements; 
● Review on annual basis in collaboration with Executive Director at regular board meeting issues of succession related to staff and the board.

To qualify, you must:
● Be a resident of Ontario (preferably within a reasonable distance from Toronto);
● Have no conflict of interest that would prevent you from serving on the TATI Board (i.e., must not be a current student, staff member, supervisor or instructor);
● Possess a desire to develop your leadership skills; and,
● Demonstrate commitment to TATI’s mission.

Meeting Schedule

The TATI Board of Directors meets on average four times a year via video conference. One of these meetings is a two-meeting session, to include the AGM (Annual General Meeting). Additional (ad hoc) meetings occur as needed. The Board typically meets online, with at least one in-person meeting annually, subject to the recommendation of the Board.
